The Great Big Blog On Ice Breaker Linky

Good afternoon folks! How are we all today?

I am feeling very excited because in less than 3 weeks I’ll be attending my first ever blogging conference, hurray! 🙂 I feel like I’ve waited for this moment for months + months (probably because I actually have – duh!)

The Great Big Blog On Ice Breaker Linky

Luckily, my first chance to meet some of my blogging buddies is at a local conference over at the Museum of Science & Industry just down the road in Manchester so it’s not too far to go at all. I’m currently a really pleasant mix of nervous, enthusiastic and pepped up and I’m counting down the days until I get to dive in and get involved.

I also get to meet my good friend Alex from I’m Every Mum in the flesh (along with some other awesome bloggers I am dying to get chatting with) as she has very kindly offered to come and pick me up on her way over. How lovely is that? 🙂

Anyway, Kara from Chelsea Mamma has been a superstar and put together some questions for the attendees of Blog On to answer as a way of getting to know each other before the conference. I’m a little late in getting round to posting my responses but here we go…

-ONE-

SHARE A RECENT PICTURE OF YOU:

Lily and I - Easter Sunday

Here’s a photo of my gorgeous girly, Lily, and I snapped by my sister-in-law on Easter Sunday. As you can see from my mega-bloated face, I’d been hammering the choccie eggs all morning and this was followed up by a mammoth burger + chippies at The Moorings in Boothstown. Yum!

-TWO-

IF YOU HAD TO DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN THREE WORDS…

Kooky // Metalhead // Hippyish

-THREE-

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN BLOGGING & WHAT MADE YOU START?

I started blogging in the summer of 2015 so I’m approaching my first year already, where has the time gone? Eeek!

It all began after I went out for a coffee + some much-needed cake with a new friend. She was really reassuring about my experiences of early motherhood and I felt SO much better after having a good ‘ole chinwag with her and meeting her little girl. I wanted to lift other new mamas up, to make them realise that they’re doing so well with this whole motherhood business and to help them along the way with any tips + advice that had been passed on to me or that I’d come across myself.

I also wanted to keep an online record of motherhood and family life for us to look back on as Lily grows up and lots of photographs for us to swoon over in years to come! 🙂

-FOUR-

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE TV PROGRAMME AS A CHILD?

Oh my goodness, I couldn’t pick just one so here’s a few of my all-time favourites – Arthur, The Worst Witch, Hey Arnold, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Sister Sister, Playdays, The Queen’s Nose, Dexter’s Lab, The Powerpuff Girls, The Wild Thornberries + Art Attack.

SOMETHING INTERESTING YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT ME IS…

I’ve been with my Fiancé since I was 17 and we moved in together after just 2 weeks!

-SIX-

WHAT IS THE WEIRDEST FOOD YOU’VE EVER EATEN?

I don’t think most people would class it as ‘weird’ but I had a live oyster in a shell from a market stall in Arbroath, Scotland and as I started to eat it my Fiancé’s great uncle {who we were staying with at the time} leant in and whispered ‘Oooh, just think of it slipping down your throat, still alive and all’ and I instantly threw up back in to the shell and all over myself. Yuck! It’s how people from Mike’s family know who I am. Forever dubbed ‘the oyster girl’.

-SEVEN-

WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST FASHION FAUX PAS?

Um, trainers and a skirt circa Lily Allen 2007.

-EIGHT-

WHAT ARE YOUR PET PEEVES?

It really, really annoys me when drivers don’t stop at zebra crossings or when people park over the WHOLE pavement so I have to take Lily on the mother-trucking road in her pram.

-NINE-

WHO WOULD BE YOUR THREE PERFECT DINNER PARTY GUESTS (DEAD OR ALIVE) AND WHY?

(1) Alan Rickman because I could listen to him talk about anything {at all} until the night was over and be completely transfixed.

(2) Kat Von D because I admire her attitude and I’d love to chew her ear + soak up some of her energy.

(3) Ville Valo because I could stare at his beauty all night and I’d make him sing for me, ha! 😉

-TEN-

IF THEY MADE A MOVIE OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT AND WHICH ACTOR WOULD PLAY THE PART OF YOU?

It would be about a wild party girl who is always the first one to reach THAT annoying level of drunk, goes to lots of gigs + festivals with her boyfriend and spends her money carelessly who finds out that she’s pregnant the day after she comes home from one of said festivals and becomes a sensible(ish) mama who is surgically attached to her baby girl and talks ‘mummy speak’ most of the day 😉

Either Hannah Murray or Kaya Scodelario could have the lead role, just because I’ve always seen myself in both of their characters on Skins, haha!

-ELEVEN-

IF YOU COULD LIVE IN ANY SITCOM WHICH ONE WOULD IT BE?

How I Met Your Mother.

-TWELVE-

NAME A FAMOUS PERSON YOU’VE MET:

Michael Starr, Satchel, Stix and Lexxi from Steel Panther back in 2014 at Download Festival. I got a kiss from Lexxi and Michael + Satchel shouted after Mike when he walked off without me as we were leaving the Signing Tent.

They went “Mike, hey Mike – don’t you wanna get laid? Wait for her!’ 🙂

-THIRTEEN-

WHICH SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM BEST DESCRIBES YOUR PERSONALITY AND WHY?

Instagram because I’m a sucker for pretty things!

-FOURTEEN-

WHAT PICTURE DO YOU HAVE ON YOUR LOCK SCREEN/COMPUTER?

Mike & Lily - First Halloween

My baby bear and her Daddy, my wonderful Mike, on Halloween last year. I adore this photo! 🙂

-FIFTEEN-

HOW MANY PAIRS OF SHOES DO YOU OWN?

Not that many anymore! I have 3 pairs of Dr Martens {white roses, black patent and black triumphs}, 4 pairs of Irregular Choice {scotty dogs, black + red roses, purple ladybug and kitty in fishbowl}, a pair of pink/black Converse, kitty cat Vans, some Havaianas for holidays or the summer months and some green/black spotty heels.

-SIXTEEN-

WHAT PERIOD OF TIME FROM THE PAST WOULD YOU MOST LIKED TO HAVE LIVED IN?

The 80’s or the early Victorian times.

-SEVENTEEN-

IF YOU COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD YOU GO?

I know it’s not exactly exotic but I’d love to hire a mustang and tour the USA. I’d also like to visit Iceland, Germany and Finland.

-EIGHTEEN-

WHAT IS YOUR GUILTY PLEASURE?

I used to make fun of people who watched Made In Chelsea and then when I was pregnant I decided I would watch trashy TV to make myself feel better and I became hooked. I haven’t watched it for a while because my boyfriend rolls his eyes but I’d secretly love to and sometimes I put it on when he’s not here to catch up! 😛

-NINETEEN-

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE TIPPLE?

Prosecco // Malibu // Captain Morgans // Jagermeister // Jack Daniels

Urgh reading this has made me realise how desperately I need a night out!

-TWENTY-

IF YOU HAD A MAGIC LAMP AND A GENIE, WHAT WOULD BE YOUR THREE WISHES?

(1) That Lily grows up happily and healthily.

(2) That we could afford to travel and discover the wonders of this world with our beautiful daughter.

(3) That the world would become a peaceful, safe and equal place for our children and their families to live in.

So, there you have it!

If you’re off to Blog On on May 1st please do come and say hi 😉 I can’t wait to meet you all.

Lucy Signature

P.S. If you’re not going to Blog On {boo!} I’m also attending BlogCamp and #BML16 so it’d be fab to bump in to you sometime in the summer!

Haha, that made me giggle, bless you! Flowery docs are the best aren’t they? Very summery and girly but still have that awesome Dr. Marten’s edge and style 😉 X

Ah I think I missed you? Such a shame!
I wasn’t well so didn’t take as many photos or meet as many people as I would have liked but still a fab weekend 🙂 X

Oh, people parking on the pavement really annoys me! The other day I had to walk into the middle of a fairly busy road with a pram and a 3 year old. Good call.
Your blog looks really well-established, I’d never have guessed you started blogging so recently.

Aw thank you, that’s sweet of you to say! X
