Make Your Own Coconut Oil Face Scrub

It’s a late one tonight lovelies!

I’ve been a little lost this evening, not exactly sure how I’ve wanted to spend my night whilst Mike is glued to his new addiction on the TV.

He’s half way through The Walking Dead and it looks SO good. I just wish I knew what was going on! I spend most of my evenings blogging with one eye on the TV screen so whilst I’ve seen it all, I’ve not actually taken it in 🙁

Anyway, even he admitted that this particular episode was pretty dull and as I’m not really in to it I went off to ‘do something’.

You know when you just want to ‘do’?

I didn’t want to sit and watch TV, I didn’t want to write to you guys (sorry!) I wanted to do, to make and to create so I whipped up this coconut oil face scrub {seeing as though I threw my empty face wash in the recycling bin this morning and completely forgot to buy another…} and now I’m all ready to clean up before bed.

It’s crazy-easy to make, you know exactly what’s in it and it’s all completely natural – perfect! 😉

Coconut Oil Face Scrub

Reasons For Trying A Coconut Oil Face Scrub

– Coconut oil is naturally antibacterial + antifungal.

– It’s also a natural moisturiser + skin-softener.

– It’s said to have anti-aging properties.

– The scrub should remove dead skin cells and help to eliminate blackheads.

– It’s a rich source of Vitamin E.

Vitamin E is known to work as a hormone-regulating substance and may help to reduce natural hormonal fluctuations that can cause your sebaceous glands to become hyperactive {i.e. your skin becomes too oily}

Vitamin E can also clear any blockages in the glands and keep skin looking and feeling healthy.

– If you suffer from mild acne, coconut oil can be soothing and act as an anti-inflammatory.

Ingredients & Method

All you need ingredients-wise is some coconut oil {I had some on the kitchen dresser} and soft brown sugar {I’m a baker so this is always to hand!} and you’ll also need something to keep it in such as a jar and general kitchen equipment {spoon, bowl, scales}.

1. Set up your kitchen scales and using a teaspoon scrape 250g of coconut oil {it’s solid at room temperature} from the jar in to a medium-sized bowl.

2. Measure out 125g of soft brown sugar and add this to the bowl as well.

3. Using the back of the teaspoon, cream the oil and sugar together until they form a paste. Give it a quick stir to ensure both ingredients are fully mixed.

4. Spoon the paste in to the jar and pop the lid on.

That’s it, your face scrub is now ready to use and should smell so wonderful that you’ll want to eat it {which you could, if you wanted to, but it’s probably much less calorific to use it on your face instead!} 🙂

Directions For Use

To use your new homemade scrub, generously apply to your face/neck and massage in circular motions for at least 15-20 seconds. Leave for another 10 seconds before rinsing the scrub away and patting your face dry with a towel.

I hope you enjoy making/using this gorgeous face scrub! 😀

Have you used coconut oil on your face or body before?

This sounds lovely and I love the idea of making something homemade- I bet it smells amazing too. My skin is so dry cause of pregnancy at the moment. x

It smells so delicious, I love the scent of coconut! Coconut oil is supposed to be fab for dry skin and for stretchmarks. I wish I’d used it when I was pregnant but it seems to be doing a good job at fading my stretch marks postpartum anyway. I don’t want them to go completely, I like having them, I just wish they would blend in a bit better haha! 😉 X
