This is a collaborative post.
If you work from home, especially if you’re a fellow blogger, then no doubt you’ll have experienced the same problems I have from time to time whether it be review items getting lost around the house or piled up creating clutter or dealing with the whole ‘tidy house, tidy mind’ thing when your home is the furthest away from tidy it’s ever been. Let me tell you, there’s something oh-so-distracting about the unwashed pots on the draining board or mountains of washing spilling out of the basket in the corner whilst you’re trying to get on with your work.

We have four bedrooms and across the 18 months that we’ve lived here, I’ve moved all of the bedrooms around countless times trying to find what works for us. During the last ordeal of heaving furniture up and down the second set of stairs when I’d had another of my ‘bright ideas’, we eventually decided that the single room would become my office/workspace although it had been more of a dumping ground until we managed to sort everything out properly yesterday. A little haven of my own — what do you think?
The ‘desk’ is actually an antique dressing table that I’ve had since I was a little girl. It has a mirror that usually sits on top but it doubles up well as a writing space too! Saying that, I don’t know if I’ll ever use the desk properly, to be honest with you. The sofa is certainly much more inviting and is really comfortable and cosy.
If you’re a fan of the wall calendar and the poster hanger, you can pick them up from Desenio. I love having it handy as I’m terrible at remembering dates so now I can just glance up to get the clarity that I need. The poster (Calendar 2018 Gray Poster) comes in 2 different sizes (I have the larger 50 x 70cm size) and is from £9.95. The accompanying 51cm black poster hanger is currently £15.95.
The large marble coffee table is going to be for all of my projects and for crafting/creative work. I definitely needed a space where I could lay things out and move them around to see how they look. I’m also planning to keep all of my review items underneath until I need them so that I can see what I’ve got to do and everything is kept together safely.
I’ll be using this dry-wipe board to keep track of my campaigns and workload. Again, I picked up a few of these monochrome prints from Desenio for £2.95 each (Girl Power, Butterfly Black and White, Geometric Heart and Hide).
I think one of the best things about having a quiet space of my own to work will be that I can close the door on any mess and clutter and keep it away from my thoughts, allowing me to concentrate on the task at hand.
These gorgeous co-ordinating prints (Winter Morning and Moon and Sun) are also from Desenio and they’re definitely my cup of tea! They’re both from £13.95 and the black frames come in at £11.95 each (30 x 40cm).
You’ll see that I’m not a matcher of things, if that makes sense? I love these perfectly decorated, co-ordinated rooms but I couldn’t pull them off personally because I’m simply not disciplined at all. I just buy what appeals and hope it all looks good together, completely throwing caution to the wind. It always looks and feels cosy and homely though, so it works for us.
I’m really happy with the room and I’m excited to have a creative workspace of my own. Hopefully, I’ll be able to manage my workload better and I’ll be more organised going forwards.
